Glossary / PCM

What does PCM mean?

PCM stands for per calendar month. When you see a room listed as "£650 PCM," it means the rent is £650 for each calendar month - not each 4-week period, and not each week.

This matters more than it sounds. A calendar month varies in length (28 to 31 days), but your rent stays the same regardless. Compare this to PW (per week) listings, where you'd multiply by roughly 4.33 to get a monthly figure, not just 4 - a common mistake that leads people to underestimate their real monthly cost.

Quick conversion: to compare a PW price with a PCM price, multiply the weekly rent by 52 and divide by 12 (or roughly ×4.33).

Example: £150 PW ≈ £650 PCM. If a listing shows "£150 PW" and you assume that's £600 a month (×4), you'd actually be underestimating by £50 every month.

Always check whether a listing uses PCM or PW before comparing prices between rooms.
