Glossary / PW
What does PW mean in rent listings?
PW stands for per week. A room listed at "£150 PW" costs £150 every week, not every month.
PW pricing is common for shorter-term or more flexible lets, and for rooms in London and other high-turnover rental markets. The catch: it's easy to under-convert PW into a monthly figure by multiplying by 4 instead of the correct 4.33, since most months have more than 4 full weeks.
Quick conversion: weekly rent × 52 ÷ 12 = monthly equivalent.
Example: £150 PW × 52 ÷ 12 = £650 PCM - not £600, which is what you'd get multiplying by 4.
When comparing two rooms, always convert both to the same basis before deciding which is actually cheaper.
